In Motion

I am developing some great new skills as I explore my new world. Lately I have started really looking at things and tracking them as they move to and from. My little eyes will slowly follow the object (or Mommy's face) as it gets closer to me and then goes from side to side.

I also like to dance my little hands and feet around to express myself when I am awake. I do this even more when I am hungry. It doesn't take long for me to belt out my loudest cry and flail my little arms about. Unfortunately, my nails are still very sharp no matter how much Mommy files them, and I manage to scratch myself sometimes. She is trying to keep my hands covered but with my especially long fingers I usually manage to get them out of the bind. Who knows, maybe I will be the next baby Houdini.

Week in Review

Looking back on week four, I feel like I have really matured. Not only am I crying in different tunes, I also smile and laugh more in my sleep and I have managed to have some more "face time" with Mommy during the daytime.

People say I have filled out more and now my head is round and plump. I guess this is a good thing, because I must admit I am super cute. My feet and legs are still pretty long and skinny, but they look more like human legs and not chicken legs.

I am now drinking more soy formula to help with my gas problems. I seem to get very crampy with the gas sometimes, so the relief is welcome. It also seems to help me to have a nice bath in the evening and get all nice and clean. Then it's back into my very pink clothing and my very pink room.

Piggy Tails

Happy New Year, everybody! Today is Chinese New Year, the year of the pig. My grandparents gave me some red pockets with money in them, and Daddy gave me a Spiderman card. Lucas seemed to like the Spiderman card so I let him have mine. But I am keeping the money, because I have some investment ideas up my sleeve. I think we might go to see my first lion dance today if everything goes well.

Three's a Charm

Yesterday marked my three week birthday. So I celebrated with a giant poo and then my umbilical cord fell off. Well, ok, it wasn't quite that boring - Mommy and I also basked in the sunshine and danced about the room. Here's to a great week four!

First Day Out

Today, my Mommy and I ventured out into the world called "outside of the house" for the first time since I visited the baby doctor. First, my family took us to breakfast at someone named Madeleine's place. Mommy says she makes pretty good eggs and potatoes.

After that, Daddy and the grandparents took Lucas to a playground where there is a train ride. I am not sure what a train really is yet, but Lucas seemed very excited about it. He had a great time and even saw "a guitar man".

Mommy and I took a good nap this afternoon, and then at night my family decided to end the day with a bite to eat at another restaurant. But I wouldn't know much about that, since I was sleeping the whole time. Apparently my car seat is quite the cozy place.

Week One

Reflecting on my first week of life, I think I have come a long way. I was born a bit smaller than my parents expected, and at 22 1/2 inches long, I was very skinny. But with the help of Mommy and her lovely milk, I have started to fill out a bit and my face is rounder and cuter each day.

I have discovered that I especially like to cuddle in warm blankets with my family, and I love to eat. Today, I started feeling more awake and spent significant time looking at the designs on my bed and at Mommy's face. I also like to listen to sounds around me like soft music or background television noise or Mommy's voice.

This is my first blog. (Ah, come on, I'm not even 2 weeks old yet.) I hope you enjoy it and check back often for my updates.

Love,
Leia
